Mind Map

Cards and connections on an open canvas — the place for ideas that don't fit a grid yet.

Not every idea arrives in order. The Mind Map is a free canvas of cards you can place anywhere and link together — for tangled early thinking, theme webs, timeline sketches, or anything that wants room to breathe. Each card takes a title and formatted notes, and you draw relationships between them with styleable connection lines.

Mind Map — cards and connections

Quick start
  1. 1Open Mind Map from the Story menu (create a map on first use).
  2. 2Add a card, give it a title and notes, and drag it where you like.
  3. 3Drag from one card's edge to another to connect them.
  4. 4Click a connection to set its style, direction, colour, and label.

Cards & Connections

  • Add colour-coded cards with an inline title and formatted body text
  • Resize and drag cards freely on an infinite canvas
  • Connect any two cards; lines route neatly around others as you move things
  • Style each connection — solid or dashed, direction with arrowheads, colour, and a label
  • Keep multiple maps per book for different threads of thought

Room to Work

  • Zoom and pan across the whole canvas
  • Go fullscreen for a big thinking session
  • Dock the map to the left or right of your writing
  • Pop it out into its own window to work beside your manuscript

The same card-and-connection system powers Chapter Notes and Scene Designer — learn it once here and it's familiar everywhere.

Every great story starts with a single sentence.
