Plot Grid
Chapters down the side, story threads across the top — plan and see your structure at a glance.
The Plot Grid lays your book out as a spreadsheet: each chapter is a row, and each column is a thread you care about — a synopsis, a subplot, stakes, a point of view. Fill the cells with a line or two, and the whole structure of your book becomes something you can read across and down. Columns are suggested by your genre, so you start with prompts that fit.

- 1Open Plot Grid from the Story menu.
- 2Click Add column and pick a genre-suggested thread, or name your own.
- 3Click a cell to summarise what that chapter does for that thread.
- 4Drag columns to reorder, and colour a header to group related threads.
Building Your Grid
- A Synopsis column is always there; add as many thread columns as you need
- Genre-aware suggestions — story events, stakes, clues, relationship beats, and more
- Rich-text cells you can format, with links auto-detected
- Drag to reorder columns; resize columns and rows to fit your content
- Colour a column header, rename it, or remove it
- Add planned rows before a chapter exists — the title fills in once you write it

Use one column as a pure synopsis and the rest for threads. Reading straight down the synopsis column gives you a chapter outline; reading across a thread column shows you an entire subplot's shape.
