Connections
See your cast as a web of relationships, and edit the ties directly on a canvas.
Open the Connections canvas and every character becomes a node you can arrange, with lines for the relationships between them. It's canonical to the universe — the ties you draw are true across every book in the continuity, not just the one you're in.
Connections — the relationship canvas
- 1From the Characters library, click Connections and pick a universe.
- 2Drag a line from one character to another to create a relationship.
- 3Choose the relationship type and strength.
- 4Click a character node to open their sheet alongside the canvas.
On the Canvas
- Every character in the universe appears as a compact card node
- Draw a tie between two characters and set its type — family, friend, mentor, rival, love interest, and more
- Set a strength that shows in the line weight, and add an optional label
- Right-click a tie to edit, reverse its direction, or delete it
- Click a node to open that character's full sheet without leaving the canvas
- Pan and zoom freely; the canvas lays your cast out for you each time you open it
Relationships here are the canonical, universe-wide truth. Inside a single book, the in-editor Characters panel gives you the same canvas with layouts that stay put per book.
Muse can find relationships for you. Ask it to map your characters' connections, or run a connections scan, and it proposes the ties it reads in your prose — the right type, both-way labels, and direction — for you to approve. It only ever links characters who already exist.
