Characters
Build a cast once and use it everywhere. Each character has a portrait, essentials, arcs, relationships, and free-form profile sections.
Your Characters library is shared across every book in a universe, so a character you create for one novel is right there for the sequel. The library is a grid of character cards; click one to open its sheet on the right and fill it in. Everything saves as you go, and an untouched character quietly removes itself if you close it without adding anything.

- 1Open Characters from Story World, then click New character.
- 2Type a name and fill in the essentials — role, tagline, age, and more.
- 3Add a portrait: upload your own, or generate one with AI.
- 4Write into the profile tabs — Overview, History, Psyche, Appearance, Voice, Skills, Relationships, Arc, and Notes — or add your own sections.
- 5Link the character to the books and universes they appear in.
The Profile Sheet
- Essentials — name, tagline, role, archetype, age, date of birth, sex, and species
- Portrait — upload a photo, generate one with AI, or fall back to an identity gradient
- Profile tabs — Overview, History, Psyche, Appearance, Voice, Skills, Relationships, Character Arc, and Notes, each holding rich-text sections
- Add your own named sections to any tab; the card preview shows your first written section
- Appears in — link the character to specific books, and to one or more universes
- Faction crests — the badges of any factions the character belongs to appear on the sheet
Card Styles
Your cast can wear one of eight card looks — pick the mood that fits your world. Every style shows the same information; only the presentation changes. The style is set per universe, so each world can have its own feel: filter the library to a single universe to change that universe's look.
- Classic — an instant photo with a handwritten label
- Codex — an aged tome with a parchment leaf
- Tarot — a mystical archetype card with a Roman numeral
- Arcane — holographic foil with gold filigree
- Terminal — a starship HUD with cyan brackets
- Casefile — a manilla dossier with paperclip and stamp
- Newsprint — a vintage clipping with halftone and drop cap
- Aurora — a glass card with an iridescent border
Organising Your Cast
- Pin the characters you use most so they sort to the front
- Give each a card colour that carries through to the sheet
- Filter the grid by universe using the chip row
- Set the card style per universe — filter to one universe, then choose its look
- Open the relationship canvas from the Connections button (see Connections)
