Workspace Views
Keep the manuscript arranged around the work you are doing, without making copies of your prose.
Use the Workspace view button in the main toolbar, immediately to the right of Chapter Notes, to choose how the manuscript is arranged. The choice is remembered for this book. Every view works on the same locally saved manuscript, so changing the desk never duplicates a chapter or creates a second version to reconcile.

Three Ways to Work
- Single chapter — the familiar, centred page for everyday drafting
- Split editor — two different chapters open side by side, each with its own scroll, cursor, save buffer, undo history, and Edit or Read mode
- Continuous manuscript — the book flows chapter after chapter on one scroll, with every chapter using the same full Tiptap page and paragraph tools as Single chapter
Designed for Long Manuscripts
- Split editing will not open the same chapter in two live editors, preventing competing saves to the same prose
- Both split-pane headers have chapter selectors, with proper manuscript names for front and back matter such as Prologue, Epilogue, and Author's Note
- The Story World name-highlighting switch applies to both split panes; each pane still owns its own Edit or Read choice
- Chapter Notes is disabled in Split editor because its canvas anchors to one article; choosing Split closes an open notes canvas
- Continuous view uses the canonical chapter page, padding, context menu, Story World links, and keyboard behaviour
- Chapter Notes follows the active page in Continuous manuscript; click a chapter and its real article becomes the notes canvas anchor
- Chapter Check, Chapter Analysis, Chapter Pulse, and Word Cloud are chapter-scoped, so Continuous manuscript disables them with an explanation; switch to Single chapter to use them
- Prose Metrics automatically measures the full ordered manuscript in Continuous view, while Read Aloud follows every section in book order
- When you add a saved snippet in Split editor, drop positions appear on both open pages so you can choose the chapter and exact position together
- Whole chapter pages wake before they approach the screen, keeping large books responsive without replacing Tiptap with a reduced editor
- Opening any side panel temporarily returns Split editor to one chapter; right-side drawers stay over the split, and closing the panel restores both panes, selections, and independent modes
- Chapter History temporarily returns to a single page and disables Chapter Notes and the workspace-view picker until History closes; Focus Mode also restores your chosen workspace when it ends

Use Split editor when one scene must answer another. Put either pane in Read mode when you want a safe reference, while the other pane remains editable.
